February 11th The Missing Middle. What will it take to make a dent in San Diego’s Housing Crisis?

The housing challenge facing San Diego is not new, just more acute. Some San Diegans want to mandate more affordable housing; some insist we need less regulation. Some promote density; others resist to protect neighborhood character. The list goes on. The result? A growing stalemate on building homes that a majority of San Diegans can afford. There are no easy answers or solutions - it will take creativity, determination and the ability of the industry, local government and citizens to work together to address the housing shortage. This program will explore upcoming policy changes, new ideas around capital, and the need for coalition-building that could help point the way in 2020.
