Monthly Breakfast Series: The Defense Economy – Growth and Impact on Local Real Estate
The military is big business in San Diego. With more than $50 billion dollars spent on defense locally, the industry supports more than 330,000 jobs. It is a powerful and growing economic driver for the region. In the next seven years, the number of naval ships based in San Diego is expected to grow from 64 to 72. This growth represents close to 25,000 new residents and does not account for job growth in defense sector for companies like Lockheed Martin and Northup Grumman. Rear Admiral Yancy B. Lindsey will sit down with John Frager, Executive Managing Director of CBRE (and former US Naval Officer), for an in-depth conversation focused on how the region can prepare to support this growth with new housing, office, and commercial development; and where this growth will take place and how it will impact the commercial Real Estate around it.
