Downtown San Diego Partnership
401 B Street, Suite 100
San Diego, CA 92101 United States

The Downtown San Diego Partnership, Chairman Craig Benedetto, and President Kris Michell invite you to attend a special event the Partnership is hosting on September 13. We have invited placemaking expert Fred Kent, of Project for Public Spaces, to share his vast knowledge on creating site-specific “sense of place” and the art of activating public spaces.

Fred and his team have worked in more than 3,500 communities in 45 countries worldwide, and we are eager to have him bring his expertise  to San Diego’s urban environment. We look forward to his assistance as we create guiding principles within which our communities can work to bring vibrancy to our respective neighborhoods.

This opportunity to host Fred Kent and his team is made possible by the generous support of Bank of America.

On Wednesday, September 13, the Partnership will host a workshop event. Fred and his team will discuss placemaking and his theories behind what makes for a vibrant public space. The attendees will then break into four groups, visit one of four Downtown public spaces, and participate in planning and engagement exercises. The workshop will wrap up with a report out on the findings of each group and a debrief from Fred and his team. We will adjourn to a happy hour at the Partnership office to network and learn from one another.
