Today, hotels are on a never-ending search for ways to differentiate themselves, and excellent service is no longer enough. The industry has changed. Guests are looking for authentic local flavor and bespoke experiences that they can capture and share instantly through social media networks. User-generated content have become essential tools in the hotel branding and marketing toolkit.
We are also seeing new the collision of concept hotels with apartment living. A number of recently built hotels and resorts combine the space and amenities of a private home with high-end amenities like concierge service and curated experiences.

Scott is a Managing Director in the San Diego office of HFF with 15 years of real estate experience. He is responsible for institutional-grade hotel, resort, resort residential and resort development site investment sales across North America, as well as hotel and resort debt and equity placement transactions. During the course of his real estate career, Scott has sourced services on more than $5 billion of resort assets, has been involved in more than $3 billion of hospitality development and resort residential sales, and has sold/capitalized nearly $4.5 billion in hotel and resort transactions. . Prior to joining HFF, Scott was a Director and Vice President at Lowe Enterprises, in the Real Estate Services and Hospitality Group.
Robert Green, CEO, Robert Green Company
As President and Chief Executive Officer of The Robert Green Company, Mr. Green is responsible for managing all activities of the company. His responsibilities and areas of expertise include acquisition and feasibility analysis, transaction structuring, finance, development management, entitlement processing, design supervision, construction management, and operator interface and coordination for hotel and resort development projects, including The Pendry San Diego. Projects currently in development include the 5th Avenue Landing and Montage Healdsburg.
Todd Majcher, Vice President, Resort Development and Design, Lowe Enterprises
Todd leads entitlement, design and construction initiatives for Lowe in Southern California. He has played an integral, principal role in some of Lowe’s most successful projects including Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes and the San Diego County Operations Center. Currently, Todd leads redevelopment of the Towne and Country Resort in Mission Valley into a hospitality-focused mixed use development.
Ellie Combs, Gensler
Ellie is an Associate in the Gensler San Diego office leading design for the Hospitality Interiors group. With 10 years of experience in the San Diego region and beyond, Ellie has had an integral role in the Andaz San Diego, Andaz Savannah, Gensler San Diego Office, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills and Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe projects. She is responsible for establishing a design direction for the project and working side by side with the project team, brand, and ownership to deliver the project. She strives to tell a story, through a holistic design approach of carefully marrying art, community, brand, and social media moments to put the properties best foot forward.
